| A 20-minute film made by current and former Leominster residents
is one of the entries in the inaugural Free Fitchburg Film Festival
at the Fitchburg State campus.
The film, "We've Got Johnny," was shot over the course
of four days in September. It follows a New York-based television
reporter who comes back to her home town to cover the sale of the
last orchard in town.
Leominster High School graduate Andy Grant, who directed the film,
said the concept began when friend and former Leominster resident
Matt Proietti saw coverage of the city's purchase of Sholan Farm
on CNN.
Proietti, now a real estate agent living in Lake Arrowhead, Calif.,
wrote the script last summer. With a handful of friends serving
as cast and crew, Grant, a resident of Ayer, shot the picture at
various locations around town. Some filming was done at last year's
Johnny Appleseed Festival.
"Our first goal was to entertain ourselves, but more and more
people have seen it and said they liked it," said Grant. He
said Saturday's viewing will be "the first time I've seen it
with strangers."
Grant recently submitted the film to a festival in Toronto.
The film festival opens Thursday, with a 6 p.m. lecture by director
John Landis.
"We've Got Johnny" will be shown at 10 a.m. Saturday
