| Local towns build Johnny Appleseed Visitor Center hoping to
lure travelers to check out the Appleseed Trail. The trail features
many museums, shops, working farms and sports and recreation facilities
that are ripe for the picking including Wachusett Mountain Ski Area,
the Shakers, an industrious religious group, Whalom Park, and Ewen's
Sleepy Hollow Sugar House
Available at the center are brochures outlining walking tours that
highlight historic areas and buildings in several communities in
the trail region. One sight on the Leominster tour is a life-sized
wood carving of Johnny Appleseed. |
